Review: mophie Juice Pack air for iPhone

IMG_1451

Since getting my iPhone, one of the biggest complaints I’ve had is battery life. I’m in an area that always has 3G coverage at all times, and I find my battery really doesn’t last me a full day. I ordered the mophie Juice Pack with the hopes of solving this annoying issue. The Juice Pack Air basically a solid protective case with a thin body, and rechargeable battery pack all-in-one. The Juice Pack Air is available in several color, including black, blue, white or red.

Thoughts on this product:

Mophie is one of the most well known names when it comes to extended batteries for the iPhone. Although the extended battery does make my iPhone quite a bit heaver, and bulkier, it has proven to be one of the most essential tools for day to day business. The Juice Pack Air features a 1200mAh internal battery, which is suppose to offer nearly double the battery life. While reviewing the case in 3G only areas I didn’t notice it to provide quite double, but it was defiantly a lot more than I had before. Because the Mophie runs on a 1200mAh battery you will notice its not quite enough “juice” to charge the battery from the bottom up, but it’ll get you about 70-80% full.

Would I recommend it? Without a question I’d suggest this product to nearly anyone looking to boost their iPhone battery. The only real downsides I did notice with this case besides the size and weight, would be the shinny material. It’s very easy to scratch and mark up. As for the fit it’s good and solid all the way around, and the case still feels great in your hands. It’s well rounded, which is important to me. The Mophie Juice Pack Air also features a micro USB port on the bottom of the case, this allows your iPhone to charge and/or sync with your computer by using a more standard cable.

Pros:

  • Provides decent extended battery life
  • Micro USB port is huge bonus
  • Color options are good

Cons:

  • 1200mAh is a little weak, considering you can’t fully charge your device with one charge
  • Casing scratches easy
  • Makes iPhone pretty heavy and bulky
  • Back is extremely fingerprinty

Overall:

I was surprised on how much I relied on this case. It’s just so handy to be able to pop it on, and turn it on when my battery gets low. I really like the fact that the Juice Pack Air features the Micro USB port so I can charge the device easily, plus it doesn’t require me to have tons of cables around my desk. I only wish Mophie included a bit bigger battery to charge the device from 0 to full.
