Apple’s iPhone 4 Free Bumper Promotion will cost them $175 Million…

Ever since Apple announced they would be providing free bumper cases to everyone who bough an iPhone 4, it has received mixed reviews. During Apple’s quarterly earnings call they announced that the free bumper cases would cause them a total of $175 million dollars. This doesn’t seem be a whole lot if you consider that they’ve sold well over 3,000,000 iPhone 4′s within the first few weeks, and they haven’t even finished launching around the world yet.

The true question is how will Apple’s free bumper offer hurt existing accessory companies – like Incipio, Seidio, OtterBox, etc. I guess time will only tell.
