Where is Powermat’s PowerPak Batteries for Smartphones

August 17, 2010 | 2 Comments

Back in January (yes, eight months ago) Powermat showed off their new wireless charging solutions at CES 2010, including the PowerPak. This new little product from Powermat replaces your current smartphone battery, with a OEM sized battery with a Powermat receiver inside. This would allow you to use your regular battery door, and not require on of those tacky huge cases on the back.

My question is eight months later, where are the PowerPaks? Since the announcement Powermat has managed to release new wireless charging mats (both the single and double), but no new receivers to use them with.

If you visit Powermat.com you will notice they show a BlackBerry Bold 9700 charging on the mat, but they don’t officially offer any receivers for this model. Check out the video below and see if you spot the Powermat Powerpak battery.
